About the Gallery
Russell/Projects is a
contemporary art gallery representing emerging and mid-career
artists in all mediums. Located in a 2-story 1,500 sq foot space in
the renovated Plant Zero artist studio warehouse in the heart of
Richmond's arts district.
The owner and director, Heather Russell, has nearly two decades of
experience in the art world. Russell has acted as an Assistant
Director at James Cohan Gallery in New York, as Associate Director
at Irvine Contemporary in Washington, D.C., Director at Phoenix
Ancient Art, NY and Geneva, Switzerland, as well as manager of
Private Client Development at Sotheby’s Auction House NY. As a
gallerist and art advisor since 2000, Russell had placed works with
many of the top private and corporate collectors and museums
internationally, including the The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, The
Corcoran Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts-Houston, The Kimbell
Museum, TX, Princeton Art Museum, and the Tampa Museum of Art,
amongst others.
She possesses a B.F.A , an M.A. in Ancient Art History and Classical
Archaeology &Philology from the University of Arizona, as well as
Doctoral studies in Art History at The Institute of Fine Arts, NYU.
Russell is published in the arts, as a contributing writer for The
International ArtNewspaper, Apollo Magazine, and as co-author of the
book “Ancient Art-Virginia Museum of Fine Arts“. (1998). Russell has
been a board member at The SculptureCenter, Long Island City, and a
Fellow at The Museum of Modern Art. She is currently an adjunct
professor of Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)
in Richmond.

Located in the Plant Zero Arts Buildingin downtown Richmond, on Hull Street Road between 3rd and 4th
Streets, in suite 44. Entrance via the main entrance to Plant Zero
on 4th Street.
Free public parking is available in the adjacent lot on Hull Street
Road between 4th and 5th Streets.
